Gone are the days when Education was a service. Today education is business. It is an element of commerce. As such, a commercial attitude is expected from by organizations that 'sell' education.

I do not fully agree that talented students get lost in the maze of these corporatist organizations. As you said there will be a few who will wander a bit.

But if the student is talented, genuinely, he or she will get into a good career path.

The point is that talent alone will get no one anywhere. What is required is the ability to market the talent. That, as you said, is not usually taught in the educational institutions.
