Its time to dissect the IRCTC Server
IRCTC uses IIS Web Server. Windows Servers Suck Big Time but still that doesnt mean it cant handle the load if proper resources are provided. IRCTC doesn’t allow Keep-alive header as a result of which each request has to go through TCP handshake before serving the response. At 8:00, the requests are at its peak and reach the throttle limit the thus the server throws temporary 503 Service Unavailable error.(Courtesy:The World Wide Web)
So this is the Issue and IRCTC needs a bigger server or CDN or Cloud Computing. One of my Server handles few lakh Hits Everyday and its just a $400 Server.IRCTC earns in crores Everyday and Why cant it afford a better platform and a Server for Hosting remains a big Mystery to me.
I am very sure There is a Massive Scam beneath this IRCTC because they never address the core problem which is having a bigger Server which can handle the load.They have taken some Superficial Steps like Banning Agents till 9 A.M but looks like the site has become worse than ever.
At the Current Moment Though Only one Solution is Possible.
